Still Hoping for October 10th !

Latest Update...

As you know, following Wellington's covid-19 restrictions in late-June the 2021 event was forced to postpone to October 10th. However the governments covid guidelines are clear that any gathering of more than 100 people can only go ahead at Alert Level 1.

The government's latest update indicated that there is unlikely to be any further Level changes until October 4th. But this does not effect our own planning. In our last cmmunication we said we are still committed to October 10th, but with the following deadline:

Our Plan
In short, Wellington must be at Alert Level 1 by October 10th for the event to be allowed to proceed. If the government has not made an announcement regarding Wellington's shift to Alert Level 1 by 5pm on Tuesday October 5th, the 2021 event will be cancelled. If this happens, as per previous all entries & merchandise would be rolled over to the 2022 event (normally held in late-June).

What If Auckland Isn't At Level 1 ?
If Wellington is indeed at Alert Level 1 but Auckland is still at Level 2 or 3, we have an unfortunate situation whereby Aucklanders cannot participate. While travel is allowed at Level 2, it must be within the Level 2 guidelines that state you cannot partake in gatherings of more than 100 people and must maintain 2m distancing at all times. Therefore, as of the current government guidelines, it is illegal for anyone from an area with a covid-19 guideline greater than Level 1 to participate. If Aucklanders are unable to participate, those entries & merchandise would be rolled over to the 2022 event (normally held in late-June). In effect, the same obviously applies to participants from overseas.

How To Defer To 2022
If the event does not go ahead because of ongoing covid restrictions, or if Auckland participants are not allowed to participate because they are not at Level 1, your entries will be deferred to 2022 automatically and you will be sent an email once the 2022 date is announced (usually early December).

Given the uncertainty of these times, we have extended the voluntary deferment deadline from September 20 to October 1st. So, if for any reason you are unable to participate on October 10th you can defer to 2022 by Emailing Us Here. This offer is available until October 1st. If you have already deferred you do not need to contact us.

Volunteers Please...
We are in full planning mode and right now we are looking for volunteer groups for marshalling roles on the course. It takes more than 200 marshals to make the race tick and we're about 40 short. Normally we have sports clubs and schools involved and every group gets a healthy donation. The roles aren't overly tough, mostly directing runners and warning public. So if you have an awesome community group, club or school group who like being part of a big day with big smiles and a nice donation, then Email Us Now Please
